Eden Lodge embodies a new concept for luxury accommodation in Madagascar because of its unique location in a protected natural reserve. It is thus the only spot in Madagascar where you can watch, in the same place, the three iconic marvels of Madagascar : baobabs, marine turtles and wild lemurs.
Eden Lodge was exclusively built with local material (stone walls, local wood, ravinala roofs) thus preserving the site and limiting transportation of material. Transportations made mandatory where done by dhows therefore avoiding useless C02 emission.
Enjoy pure luxury without pretence and without damaging this fragile environment in a push towards sustainable development. Eden Lodge is the first Green Globe certified hotel in Madagascar, a guarantee of the highest standards in Sustainable Tourism.
The hotel produces 100% of it’s electrical needs thanks to a solar power generator. A local solar power equipment company was chosen to install the solar power generator capable of producing 6 KWC. Such a capacity makes it one of the most performant solar power generators in Madagascar which required a 100.000 Euros investment.
The real luxury of Eden Lodge is simply being there, residing in comfort whilst immersed in the diverse and untouched lush natural habitat of Madagascar.
Eden Lodge won the 2012 edition of “Green Africa Awards“, in the category “Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality“. The trophy was presented on June 6 in Port Louis, in the presence of Mr the Minister of Tourism of Mauritius. This is the first time a hotel in Madagascar receives such international distinction, which recognizes the best environmental projects in Africa. After becoming in 2011 the first hotel in Madagascar to obtain Green Globe certification (reaffirmed 2012), Eden Lodge thus continues its momentum.
For Eden Lodge, the first 100% solar hotel in the world, this is further recognition of his choice of hotel management, its management and sustainable development of its involvement in the local economy.
