SEKİ Restaurant, Lounge & Cellar, with its location inside argos in Cappadocia Hotel is pleased to welcome guests of the hotel as well as visitors from throughout Cappadocia. The name of the restaurant “Seki” is a local word meaning “the terraces on the slope” which represents the natural rock and soil formations that make up Cappadocia’s unique landscape. Just like the terraces themselves, SEKİ Restaurant, Lounge & Cellar also offers layers of experiences in the world of flavor and taste.
The 100-seat restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the valley and “fairy chimneys” below. Serving outstanding regional and Turkish dishes as well as international cuisines prepared by professional chefs, the restaurant uses only fresh, local ingredients and even has a garden where fresh herbs and vegetables are harvested. Guests who wish can visit and discover SEKİ Restaurant’s herb garden and handpick fresh herbs and greens for their meal.
At SEKİ, diners can begin their gastronomic journey with dishes such as duck confit wrapped in chard leaves, served with a spicy apricot sauce and roasted almonds; continue their feast with an entree of lamb cutlet with grape molasses, “firik” pilaf and fresh garden herbs; and top off their experience with a traditional quince dessert with mince and clotted cream, a local and unique treat. In addition to a mouthwatering menu, SEKİ also boasts one of the largest underground cellars of the region, a result of Cappadocia’s network of underground cities and its history as one of the oldest monastery settlements in the world.
Deep inside the caves of Argos in Cappadocia, SEKİ’s cellar houses select wines and sweet wines from a variety of producers throughout Turkey along with world-class wines that reflect the character of Cappadocia, including varieties made from the hotel’s own Kalecik Karası, Şiraz and Misket grapes. Wine lovers are welcome to take cellar tours, attend wine tastings and get detailed information on Anatolian winemaking and Turkish winemakers.
For those guests who are looking to relax, the SEKİ lounge provides comfort at every hour of the day, with stunning views of the valley and the mountains ahead. During the summer months, gentle breezes offer respite from the heat on the outdoor terrace, while in the colder months a crackling fire makes for a cozy indoor retreat.
The small food menu includes items like mini veal skewers flavored with spicy apricot sauce and a goat cheese and marinated strawberry salad, picked straight from the SEKİ garden. SEKİ Lounge features a wide selection of cocktails, wine and spirits, coffees and teas, plus a special cigar lounge for guests who wish to enjoy Cuban cigars.
